*Is it normal to find earphones really shitty once a person makes the upgrade to headphones? I've been using my Denon AH-D1001 for more than a month, and it just feels weird to use those ipod earphones now. It feels very uncomfortable, as if my ears are getting raped by tentacles, not to mention the sound quality is bad (no idea if this is supposed to be real or just something psychological) D:
isn't that a little too big for you, Al Azif?
**oh wow, Sanrio hired Poyoyon Rock and Koume Keito to do Hello Kitty related stuff for their Comiket 77 products D:
***some sort of Super Robot music theme video for the Nikon D3 DSLR D:
Dominating!!!
ReplyDeleteyou find your ears getting raped by tentacles uncomfortable? i wonder if it's just me, then......
ReplyDelete:D
though i'm pretty sure headphones generally have better sound quality then earphones (more room to work with, i suppose). unless you got some top-of-the-line state-of-the-art it'll-emtpy-your-wallet sort of earphones. i personally have used headphones for a few or so years now so i can't remember the general feeling of dissatisfaction i got from earphones very well :D
...thanks for the realease, btw
Actually, you're going to get far superior sound quality at a much cheaper price with headphones than you are with ear-buds. The reason for that is simple physics, the larger housing of the headphone allows for a larger cone (the part of the headphone that creates the sound), or even multiple cones (each dedicated to certain frequencies). The advantage is that a larger cone is capable of reproducing lower frequency sound waves much more easily, which is what makes your music sound more robust in headphones. Also because headphones don't actually insert anything into the ear canal, they're generally safer both physically and in terms of resultant hearing loss.
ReplyDeleteOh right, this chapter are so f·&)ing dellicius. The little kid are the new super hero of weakness heheheheh =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Chapter and Merry Chirstmas
You know not the awesomeness of the themesong to Kamen Rider V3?
ReplyDeleteYou should be aware of it from the winner of the last MikumikuDance Cup:

>implying apple earphones weren't shitty to begin with.
ReplyDeleteSrsly, it's like having only eaten rice your entire life and then saying all vegetables are shitty after eating steak.
D:<
Quarkboy: why no, I am not aware of those two points, good sir D:
ReplyDeleteME!: oh you >:3
Many thanx Desu and Setebos.
ReplyDeleteI hear what you're saying desu. Though then again, earphones take time to get used to in any situation as it were.
ReplyDeleteEarphones actually kindof hurt my ears if I wear them for too long. I often use in-ear headphones when I go outside. It's simply more incognito than the usual headphones I wear at home. I don't need people to know what I'm doing when I go out for a stroll!
>.<
P.S. And yes, normal headphones produce better sound at a fraction of the price
Well as some have mentioned in above comments ipod earphones aren't exactly the pinnacle of quality. Though theres a limit to how much improvement you're gonna hear by spending more since the ipods integrated pre amp and other output circuitry aren't too good.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I can't really speak much for headphones, I gave up on them since they make me uncomfortable after a while. Had a pair of Audio Technica AT-700s and cheap sennheiser px100 for travel use. Both were supposed to be relatively well made for the price, but the AT's felt really hot and the px100s squeeze down on the ears too much. Haven't worn headphones in years now.
Yeah, those ipod earbuds are cheap as hell, they're poor quality plastic and only about $12 worth of components, if you've moved up to even a semi-quality pair of headphones you should notice a definite change in audio quality.
ReplyDeleteSince they have poor quality transducers, and a small cheap plastic housing, the ipod earbubs just can't but out audio of great quality. If you want quality sound you generally need to look for bigger things with open housings -'open headphones' have very high quality sound, but no isolation; outside noise gets in, and people can hear your weaboo shit at even low volumes-, this allows the transducers to move the air better and produce more accurate sound. enclosed headphones -'closed headphone'- are just the opposite, they have a lot of passive isolation (they block sound) and keep interference out allowing you to hear the full quality of it's output; but because the transducers can't breathe as well as open 'phones, they tend to have a lower quality of audio output.
And if you MUST buy earbuds, buy etymotic reasearch, Sharp, or Sony Canal phones; but you will pay more dollars for a pair of high end canal phones than a pair of headphones of equal quality -miniturizing things is hard and they can charge a premium for it-
It kills me to see people shell out several hundred dollars for an ipod, justifying it as a quality purchase, and then use the shitty cheapo earbuds they ship with it -so everyone knows exactly what kind of asshoe they are-.
Well, Im not so fond of earphones not because it feels like "my ears are being raped by tentacles or something", it's because my ears ache after plugging in the earphones for long duration. Tried many types of earphones, including those with "cushions" and pads but the end result is still the same, so I prefer headphones, btw, the sound sounds more solid than earphones too XD
ReplyDeleteYeah, compared to headphones' "softly-sitting-on-your-ear-ness", earphones going in your ears tend to be a bit uncomfortable. It depends on your usage patterns, but I expect you'll get used to it soon enough; I have the same issue whenever I buy new earbuds/earphones, but it always stops bothering pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteI'd suggest you rely more on headphones if you can. Although I don't know the details I have heard that earphones can damage the ears (seriously don't just take my word for it though) and frankly I never liked them. Indoors or outdoors I use headphones, also they're useful for saying to the world "I'm not in the mood to deal with you right now".
ReplyDelete@ Desudesu
ReplyDeleteYou mixed up the RS and Hotfile links for single chapter fyi
Also, earphones are shitty.
Dude, your Hotfile and RS links are mixed up. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah pretty much, once I got my Sennheiser HD555 everything else sounds crap, my TV, 5.1 Cheap PC speakers, all kind earphones inear or out, well the inear one sound the best out of all the ones i have...
ReplyDeleteSo yeah it's normal ;_;
@Lardemar
ReplyDelete@Joonas Mäkinen
Fixed.
I can understand. Once you start using headphones, you will kinda find earphones are rubbish
ReplyDeletewell those ipod earphones are annoying especially that behind the ear hook thingie....my ears get sore after using them (well think of post-tentacle rape) I have headphones ...but if i were to use earphones the normal ones are better
ReplyDeleteI like the new blog format. But why were the Gravitar icons disabled?
ReplyDeleteErm sorry for off topic
ReplyDeletebut Did you remove search function off ? - -a
@desudesu
ReplyDeleteYea once you get some good headphones you're gonna hate the cheap earbuds and cheap headphones in genera, but you can get good earbuds/earphones, but they arent gonna be cheap.
My personal fave for listening to stuff on the go are Ultimate Ears super.fi 3s, they are IEMs(in ear monitors) and run around $80 USD last time i checked (logitech bought them out after i bought mine and bumped the price up, same quality though, just more expensive).
They sound awesome, but they do block out a lot of outside noise, so they aren't good for walking around town with them on unless you take ALOT of care crossing the street cause its like walking around with earmuffs on.
But yea, if you are looking for some good earbuds, look into IEMs made by UE or shure, they are pretty much the top two companies in the IEM market and expect to lay down at least $100 USD for anything decent.
Do you plan to finish translating this? I really like it, but noticed you haven't released any new chapters for over a year now.
ReplyDeleteI second jaredh72. This manga has excellent art, with a good story to boot, so I would really like to see its continuation. Did you just lose interest in this manga, or are there problems that you don't have any power over?
ReplyDeleteI heard the commissioner lost interest in it.
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad. I wish I could commission this one, but I'm still just a penniless student lol
