In regards to the Magic issue:

AS FOR your updated post, *ahem*:
ReplyDeleteJapan is a more infantile country than Western countries. Whereas we see maturity and adult-hood as an opportunity to become independent and lead our own lives; Japan sees it as a time that requires fulfillment of social responsibilities.
They follow a more Confucius model of thinking (Kong Fuzi has REALLY affected a lot of facets of their society). Where one needs to complete his tasks to keep the good of the whole society going.
Therefore, their 'rebellion' is to not grow up. Where we became more promiscuous to break with traditions of sexuality in the 70's. THEY instead chose to take a more child-like approach and to, essentially, never grow up.
Japanese girls are VERY materialistic, fueling trends. The industries keep their eyes on the women, not so much the men. As such, cute culture explodes and these bitches giggle and peace sign their boyfriends into bankruptcy.
I say it's TIME TO GROW THE FUCK UP. I mean, at least take shit seriously. I LIKE assertive women. I also like the western section, the pic at the top.
What are the other anthologies being translated aside from Angel's Stroke & D.L Action?

ReplyDeleteThey're actually trying to tell the story in the Chandra novel that came out last year as a manga. Not too terrible a decision. Though they could have gone with a more shonen look to the whole thing, but cute looks sell in Japan.(Moe wins over the realism we get in our normal MTG webcomics) So far, they seem to have gotten through the first chapter or so of the book. I wish someone would translate it, but hell, I already know the story. I don't need to read kanji for that. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

ME! ---> Probably through the context. :) "Let's Positive Thinking" is a simple one. As a fansubber, I haven't come across too much Engrish yet.

No offense to Chandra, but let's face it. Only "Ablaze" really does her justice. She looks very underwhelming and flavorless in the other arts (where's the RAGE OF RED???)
