How much do you charge?

From $1.5 to 2.0 per page. The price will increase if the manga is unusually wordy or if it will require additional image editing due to text style (text directly on image). The full cost of translation must be paid before I begin working on it. Larger works can be broken into parts and worked on separately if you prefer.

Transactions will be done via paypal.

What do you translate?

Japanese to English for manga. I mostly get commission requests for adult content, though.

How long do you take?

Depends. If it's a short chapter, I can get it done in a day or two if there aren't anything else in my backlog.

DDL Server

I have decided to turn the ddl server back on, on a trial basis. I have also added some new features to it to prevent leeching. Now you can only download ONE file at a time every 5 minutes. This way people hopefully can't abuse it. I will NOT be including ddl links with new posts. I will keep the existing ones and only add the links to older posts. If I find anyone attempting to abuse the server again, I will be shutting it down permanently.

EDIT: I have only tested the 5 min waiting time myself. So anyone reading this can you try it and drop a comment on whether or not it works for you. Thanks.

EDIT2: I am having a problem with the 5 minute waiting time, it is causing the file you download to only be 1kb and corrupted, so I disabled it until I can figure out how to fix it. This is NOT an invitation to abuse the ddl server as the parallel download limit is still in place.

  1. Heres hoping it dosnt come to that. Also for the record, not to make fun or anything, but the speeds I get from the DDL server sucked anyways so I always use the mirrors.

  2. I'm aware they suck, I limit them so it doesn't kill the bandwidth. I just never limited the number of parallel downloads or waiting times.

  3. You have reached the download limit, please wait 5 minutes.

  5. yeah it works

  6. where is the ddl server site, could you give me a link?

  7. i am grateful for this, but if its to expensive cut it.

people are lazy and selfish, especially on the internet.

the only advantage one gains from this is that no dick can report the file, so it stays online.

But on the other hand you could just reup it, for the average doujinshi isnt really a large file, wich means its fast.

maybe a new report system to inform you would be a better idea.
So that you instantly know that a file got deleted.
Maybe you could appoint some reuppers, who just have the function to reup stuff so that you dont have to do all stuff on your own :O

    DAMN im fappotastic today, desu.

this selceted few may be the ones who you could inform about reups!

like little helpers who help check if everything stays online.

  9. I checked afew not sure if DDL1 is messed up or what but everything i tried to DL from it was about 300kbs, and DDL2 it said alot of files didn't exist on the server. Also I didn't once get a "Connection limit Reached" like other said they got. Thought you should know these things.

And on a Personal Note I think Desu did the right thing by shutting DDL off for awhile, having had run my own site (ages ago <.< ) Bandwidth is REALLY expensive, Especially when you have as Many Leechers as I can Imagine Desu has.

Actually I run the servers not desu, he only translates and makes posts. About the ddl2 server, I don't run that particular one so I can't help you if it doesn't work. About the dll1 server, the bandwidth cap is dynamic and changes based on the number of people currently using it, so 300kb/s is normal. As for the "connection limit reached", that only happens if you try to download more than 1 file at a time on the ddl1 server.

  12. @YDKJMF
Not just rars, every file I try to download is broken, I can't seem to debug the script, I'm going to try to get some help with it.

  15. How much are you paying for bandwidth?

When I had bandwidth problems, I signed up for a bunch of dreamhost accounts. Then I would distribute the files using those accounts. It worked really well. I had 5 accounts, so that translated to about 10tb worth of bandwidth for only $50. Just don't get caught since having multiple accounts is against their TOS. You have to manually pay with paypal each month to avoid being caught.

  16. copy paste the uploading links into universal share downloader, easy, no wait, no need for ddl.

  17. If the port the ddl uses is used for only the ddl you can use an iptables rule like is shown on http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/187 to filter traffic at the network level.

Thanks for the suggestion but I know about that already and it won't work in this case.

  19. Well it works for me, and smart move taking DDL offline for a bit. Unfortunately people can be greedy, and on the internet is worse.

indeed, it is as kai said. But mainly i am getting only the things that are interesting, for the rest i am waiting for another torrent to get everything at once.

  25. Personally, I think that a batch torrent of old releases combined with a DDL of new ones seems like a good way to go.
