Contact Email for Commissions: desudesu2@gmail.com

How much do you charge?

From $1.5 to 2.0 per page. The price will increase if the manga is unusually wordy or if it will require additional image editing due to text style (text directly on image). The full cost of translation must be paid before I begin working on it. Larger works can be broken into parts and worked on separately if you prefer.

Transactions will be done via paypal.

What do you translate?

Japanese to English for manga. I mostly get commission requests for adult content, though.

How long do you take?

Depends. If it's a short chapter, I can get it done in a day or two if there aren't anything else in my backlog.

Donations

It has been nearly 5 years since I've had to do this but I've been putting money into this site and getting nothing in return so I have no choice as I've fallen on hard times recently.

Now before anyone complains about this let me address some issues I know are going to pop up again:

1) If you get paid for commissions why do we need to pay you again for the site?! YOU ARE A RIPOFF!

I am not desudesu, I only host the server, I don't get paid at all. He makes less than min wage on commissions which barely covers his time spent translating them. I host the site out of pocket and get nothing in return. And let's be honest most of you aren't paying anything to use the site or get the content anyway.

2) You are worse than X or Y paysites for doing this!!!!

These paysites charge you for a subscription fee and make ad revenue off of free users. This site has no ads and only charges per commission. I don't make any money from either of these things.

3) This is unfair! (Or some other nonsensical comment)

99.9% of you are getting this content for free. The commissioner is paying so everyone else could be considered a leecher by that definition. I can see how these people may not want to pay $100 for a commission but donating a few bucks to keep the site running is much easier and would be GREATLY appreciated.

I will not be setting monthly goals this time as the last time I did this we never reached them anyway so I'm not concerned about making more money than I actually need to pay for the site (This may be subject to change later). I am on a different billing cycle this time around too.

Also, I will not be using bitcoin.

And as always any donations are gratefully received and I really appreciate your support.

THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

  1. Grimmjow, I know you don't want to set a goal but what range or how much are you needing exactly? I'll help out if can.

  2. It costs $420 a year for hosting, I've had to upgrade the account twice in the past 2 years because I kept exceeding traffic limits. This doesn't include the cost of the domains, dns, emails, host protection etc.. If I had to add all that together I guess it would be somewhere around $550ish.

I haven't decided whether I'm going to do continuous donations or a yearly thing. I'm going to wait until the new year and see how much I got and if it's sufficient I'll do the yearly thing. If it's not a lot I'll leave donations open so they can trickle in over time.

Basically I'm looking to see whether I get a lot of people to give a little amount each or a few people to give a lot each. This will determine the course of action I'll take.

  3. I would also like to give a big thank you to those who donated already. That was CRAZY fast guys!

  4. So 550 a year means... about 45-50 a month? Unfortunately, I have no way to donate any decent amount right now (And I know donating too little can hurt instead of helping due to transaction costs). I personally wouldn't mind an opt in program to have ads on the site. (Like have it so that we can choose to see ads).

  5. That's quite alright, it's the thought that counts but you are correct. I have gotten people in the past who donated like $1-$3 and with the fees it becomes inconsequential. I will wait and see what happens with this donation period though as I'm now on a 6 month billing cycle instead of a monthly cycle like I was in 2008-2009.

  6. Post a bitcoin wallet address you big homo. Paypal will steal your money. Probably a bunch of weebawoo bitcoin millionaires out there who will cover your whole shit for a year on a whim.

  7. ...what kind of idiots actually make those sorts of comments, that you have to address them right away? anyone who seriously responds to "I'm broke, plz help" with "ERMMAGERD PAYSITE IZ BETTAR" deserves little better than being mocked.

  8. 550 bucks each year, when all the releases are stored on seperate websites? Are you sure you're not being ripped off by your provider? Got a similiar website that costs me nothing and don't need to pay storage since the files are stored on filehosters. And the pictures can be stored off-site too. Sounds strange that you have to pay all that, for this website.

If you want to avoid transaction fees, and at the same time avoid dealing with P**P** (who, let's face it, would cut you off at the knees if they ever found out what site this is) and collect donations from people who might be wary of donating due to privacy concerns...

Have you considered accepting Bitcoin donations?

  10. I also note (from a whois lookup) that your ISP accepts Bitcoin payments, so you don't even have to worry about converting to fiat.

  11. I've dropped you a 50 donation. If you still need help going into the new year let me know. I'll cover a years worth of your hosting no catch. I enjoy your site and desu's services are pretty epic so let me know.

  12. Ok so based on what I've seen so far and how generous everyone has been, It looks like this is going to be a yearly thing rather than monthly. I received far more donations than I expected in less than 24 hours, where as in 2009 it was like pulling teeth and took months to make even a small dent in the server cost. I will leave donations open for a little while longer seeing as how we are fairly close to what I would consider an acceptable goal amount.

    THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

  14. Im honestly surprised by the number of people mentioning bitcoin. But that begs the question, why are you against bitcoin?(or at least it seems that way, excuse me if im mistaken)

I'd rather use a more established service that I can trust 100%, even if it costs me money to use. I don't hate bitcoin I'd just prefer not to use it let's leave it at that.

  16. Not that I think I'll be able to donate, but for what it's worth I think your decision is well founded and accurate. You are not Hitler, and it is totally fair.

Up until a couple of years ago, wasn't Desudesu using Blogspot, until the people with sticks up there ass kept reporting him for content, and got him kicked off the site?

  18. You really should just team up with someone in the same business, split hosting costs and each retain profits from commissions you do as individuals. This makes considerably more sense than continuing to go it alone.

  19. Possible to donate by flattr?
This way you could recieve microdonations on a monthly basis from several people(probably)

  20. It doesn't sound like you have issues getting donations at this time, but if you ever need hosting services, i do have a server with a commercial connection. It probably wouldn't be enough for this site (in entirety), but if there is a particular portion of the site that you'd like to spin off, i could probably help (maybe like the images or something - I don't have a lot of CPU, compared to bandwidth).

Anyways, keep up the good work. We appreciate it.

Fair enough. I hope that in a year or two, or however long it may be before you have to do this again, that the economy will have matured to the point where you will be willing to accept them.

  23. Made a small donation, money's a bit tight this time of year.

Thanks for keeping the site going Grimm, I'd probably have flunked out without the catharsis that the site and desudesu's release have provided me free of charge over the years.

Pictures are hosted here. The main issue I was having is people linking to the content here on other websites and using my traffic. But i do keep a lookout on the usage and the main problem was the websites cpu usage on the server not the actual bandwidth. Also, this is to cover the previous year and up until recently I had been hosting a DDL server too, but with all the abuse I had to shut it down.
    Also, I’m not using bitcoin.

i think maybe you should go on vps, thats way cheaper and once you configure it you will need no support, as for the images im pretty sure you can make the images can't be linked to other websites AND maybe if you resize images the bandwitch will drop a lot, etc.

i hope you have the money you need since i know how is to have a site and not use ads or anything of that shit, still, i pay 1/5 of what you pay and we are on european servers since, well we are related to "piracy" things.

Yeah, technically this a pr0n site, which PayPal Inc doesn't approve of. If you are found out you will not receive a penny from them. Only reason why I haven't sent a penny.

All the money has already been transferred to the host account so it can autobill without me having to do anything. Paypal has nothing in it right now so it's too late for them to do anything.
